Guía farmacológica de las benzodiacepinas en el tratamiento de desordenes relacionados con la ansiedad en perros
Abstract
The pharmacological therapy of disorders related to anxiety in dogs by benzodiazepines is based on its anxiolytic activity, with a rapid onset of action and varying lengths, depending on the drug and the species, which is administered. All of them have the same pharmacological actions: in low doses anxiolytic effect and in high doses hypnotics effect. It was made a review of benzodiazepines most commonly used in animal behaviour medicine, indicating the recommended doses. Benzodiazepines are potentially useful for any problems involving anxiety, fear, or phobias in which a rapid onset of action is desired. Side effects must be considerate during its administration. Bezodiazepines have the potential to produce physical addiction, and can safely be used with other psychoactive medications.Downloads
