Abstract

Manda is female dog three years old that was suffering a disorder behavior. The owner went to the Animal Behavior Clinic referred by her veterinarian. The reasons for the consultation were excessive salivation, tremors, immobility, panting and attempted escape in situations of intense noise, especially firecrackers and noise of children at the exit of the school. The physical examination and the results of clinical laboratory analysis showed normal values. It was diagnosed as a problem of noise phobia. The treatment consisted of a program of behavior modification and drug therapy (cloracepato orally at a dose of 1 mg / kg / day for four weeks and fluoxetine orally at a dose of 1 mg / kg / day of thirteen weeks). Pharmacological therapy reduced anxiety, which facilitated the response to behaviour modification. After 13 weeks of treatment the symptoms disappeared and the owners have a good control over Manda.
