Detección de una enfermedad autosómica dominante mediante marcadores moleculares de tipo SSCP: identificación de portadores de PKD felino
Abstract
Feline PKD (Polycistic Kidney Disease) is an inherited disease caused by a mutation in an autosomal dominant gene, the PKD1, that affects 38 % of Persian and exotic cats worldwide. The use of the SSCP (Single Strand Conformational Polymorphism) technique allows the detection of those individuals which are carrier of a particular mutation in that gene, enabling breeders to avoid reproduction between carriers. After genotyping 405 samples, we have detected 107 heterozygotes with a 26,4 % of mutation prevalence.Downloads
