Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article has never been published before, nor has it been submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The format of the file sent is OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF.

  • Web addresses have been included for references whenever possible.

  • DOI references have been included when available.

  • The text meets the reference and style requirements described in the Author Guidelines, which may be found in About the Journal.

  • If you are submitting something for a peer-reviewed section of the journal, please make sure you have followed the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review.

Author Guidelines

The journal is organized in five sections: reviews, original articles, short communications, clinical cases and notes. The articles will be original scientific projects on topics related to the various fields of the veterinary and foods sciences. The articles will be unpublished and once approved, they could not be submitted to the consideration of other journal. Two appropriated referees will review the received manuscript. Articles will be presented in Spanish or in English with summary in both languages. As a general rule they will not have to exceed of 20 pages. All texts will have to be adjusted to the following format: margins of 2.5 cm, font Times New Romans 12 and spaced of 1.5. Scientific names and other words in Latin will have to be written in italic. Abbreviations will have to be written with their complete name, among brackets, the first time that are used. The work will have to be sent by electronic mail in rtf format, photographs, drawings and tables included: each one in a page at the end of the document. Once accepted the work for publication, it should be sent in rtf format, corrected and photographs, drawings and tables included in their final position. The title will be written in Spanish and English, with the complete name of the authors below. Each original will have a summary, in both languages, of 100 to 150 words, that exposes clearly the aim, the results and the principal conclusions, ending with 3 to 10 key words. The text will consist as follows: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments and Bibliography, except for reviews, short communication and clinical cases. The references to the bibliography that appear in the text will have to be of the following form: García (1985), García and Perez (1985) or García et al if there are three or more authors. Bibliography references will be ordered alphabetically by authors names and chronologically for the works of the same author, below will be ordered those with two, three and more authors. All citations will have the following format: García, L and Pérez IA. Year. Title. Journal Nº: page-page. doi: xxxx. García, L and Pérez IA. Chapter title. In: Title of the book volume. City: Publisher, year, pagepage. In electronic journals will be cited its web site. Those Articles, with doi number must be included in his bibliography. For abbreviations follow the Citation Report recommendations. Illustrations: Drawings and graphics will have a maximum size of 15 x 15 cm (425 x 425 pixels). The illustrations legends will go near them in the same language as the main text. In the text will be made reference to the figures as (Figure 1) and in the legends will appear as Figure 1. Separation among columns in tables will be made by tabulators. All the works will include the approval of the ethics committee, if it apply.

The congress proceedings will be sent in the same previous format and will be published in a proceedings book as supplement of the journal.
