Los efectos de la globalización en la estructura de poder en México
Abstract
In this article we will try to explain two dimensions of the structure of the Mexican political system: the formal and the real. Mexico has the formal institutions that characterize several modern presidential democracies, the model of which originates in the political constitution of the United States. However, Mexican political culture attributes to this formal political structure a particular functional content that is derived from its own political style, and distinct from those countries that inspired it. The Mexican political system operates within a series of informal rules and cultural characteristics that give the regime a different character from that set down by the rules. In this article we will discuss how these characteristics have impinged on the traditional structure of the Mexican political system, and then put forward some observations on the present-day changes occurring in conjunction with the process of globalization.Downloads
