Maritime Anthropology and Protected Areas: Dialectic Perspectives
Abstract
Maritime Anthropology, beyond the accumulation and consolidation of knowledge, currently deals with various processes and problems that occur in coastal spaces, including strategies for protecting marine resources, from an applied and committed perspective. On the other hand, far from mere technical solutions, marine protected areas have opened a field of work and reflection for the subdiscipline in dialectics between different human groups, policies, and management dynamics. This paper analyzes the relationship between Maritime Anthropology and the consolidation of marine protection figures in our country, considering the development of marine protected areas during the last forty years and the recent areas of discussion and social and academic participation.
