Abstract

The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer has evolved over time in terms of the knowledge of this disease, from a purely loco-regional disease to the current perspective of a systemic disease studied across a multidisciplinary approach. The current surgical treatment is based on two fundamental pillars; the conservative surgery and the selective biopsy of sentinel node, both approaches have reduced the aggressiveness of surgery without detrimental of effective control cancer criteria. In cases where the less radical treatment is not possible emerges the oncoplastic surgery as an alternative, which is helpful for women to cope with the aggression produced by radical surgery of breast cancer.
