The future is now: New research trends in Japanese Studies in Spain
Abstract
The creation five years ago of the academic journal Mirai. Estudios Japoneses constitutes a wonderful occasion to reflect on the consolidation of Japanese Studies in our country during this period. With this goal, the article provides an overview of the research groups on Japanese Studies in the Spanish university systemand considers their main scientific contributions in this field and the contextualization of the essays reunited in the monograph. In the essays, the authors review their doctoral research carried out during the five years of Mirai‘s publication life, providing a vibrant testament–necessarily broad but by no means significant–of the research trends that are currently emerging in the field of Japanese Studies in the Spanish scholarly context.
