La comunicación política y el estado de los medios de comunicación en Nicaragua
Abstract
This article approaches the main features of the Nicaraguan mass media in its socioeconomic context, in order to understand the mediations they carry out between the political sphere and citizens. Therefore, two interrelated dimensions are studied: the development of the media as democratic mediating institutions and the strength of the political system in which the media participate. The study is historically framed in the successive adaptations of Nicaraguan governability to the logic of economic adjustments and changes occurred during the last decades. Due to the interrelation between the political system and the mass media, a full and deep democratization of society can only take place through the constitution of professional and quality communicative actors that are able to offer the information that citizens, as responsible and critical agents, require.Downloads
