Abstract

This article tries to show some recently explored paths in the field of communications research in Cuba, and its relation with the essential contributions of Manuel Martín Serrano's work. In the Cuban case, the approaches to this author’s work have been mainly focused on his proposal of a Social Theory of Communication. They have been benefited, mainly, from the theory’s appropriation by several lines of research in the area of the theoretical and historical studies. These reflections are focused on the analysis concerning the validity of these approximations. It is also an approach to the advantages and limitations of Cuban research.
