Cultural tensions and Social Mediations through drug trafficking audiovisual discourses
Abstract
In this text we want to make a reflection about drug trafficking audiovisual narratives since social mediation as theoretical category. We show some historical examples in the cinema and TV production on drug trafficking. We begin from the idea about reiteration of characters, types of action and assessment of the social environment, as a result of stereotypical and spectacular perspective of drug trafficking that although it seems credible has no relation to the social problem as such. We propose that these narratives allow the conciliation between socio-political transformations of the neoliberal state, and the perception of an environment seen as dangerous and insecure, which it is allowed to justify or legitimize the violent action from Mexican Government; for it the narco representations offer a simple explanation of why the factsDownloads
