A note on economic thought in the study of public finance in Mexico from 1920 to 1980
Abstract
This note follows the historical method with resources from secondary sources and is presented with a qualitative approach. Its objective is to present the economic thought of those who promoted the analysis and disseminated public finances in Mexico from 1920 to 1980. It also reviews the economic thought that focused on the study of public finances, starting with the mercantilist school and its group known as cameralism. In Mexico, the personalities who influenced the subject of public finances are highlighted, highlighting those who oversaw the Ministry of Finance from 1920 to 1952. At the end of the Second World War, pioneering Mexican authors in the field of public finance emerged, academics graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and later became professors of the next generations, among whom are Flores Zavala (lawyer), Rosas Figueroa, Santillán López and Retchiman Kirk (economists).
