Abstract
Some results about the inter-annual variability of vertically integrated moisture transports over the Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean basin during winter are shown. Their dependency on Atlantic variability is also shown. The relationships between the spatial structure of the variability of precipitation and the variability of vertically integrated moisture transports and the effects this variability has on close downwind areas, like the Mediterranean is also treated. Finally, some preliminary results from a long-term integration of a regional atmospheric model over the Iberian Peninsula are shown. These results show a major improvement in the ability to represent effects by topography or other lower boundary conditions (SST, for instance) in the spatial structure of these transports.Downloads
