Sismicidad histórica de la Península Ibérica

  • José Manuel Martínez Solares

Abstract

The most destructive earthquakes that affected the Iberian Peninsula have occurred before the 20th century, during the so called historic period. Therefore, the seismicity studies are considered absolutely necessaries since they allow us to know the main features of this time and they represent a great value tool in seismic hazard and risk assessment. In this work it is done an analysis about the evaluation of the macroseismic data, the spatial and temporal earthquake distribution and the damage. Also the new macroseismic information map obtained has been used to estimate the energy by means of magnitude calculation.
