Abstract
The purpose to this article is to analyze how the Spanish educational system offers quality education paying attention to individual differences, as it also does with high ability students. Thus, the educational system assumes as an essential task the planning, development and assessment of educational answers specifically adressed (aimed at) to the different students’ needs, especially when they require specific attention, such as gifted subjects. Starting form a theoretical premise, based on cognitive and socio cultural models, the specific answer to these students begins with an identification process, by means of a psychological evaluation which determines the needs and characteristics of each student. The process continues with the planning of intervention in the educational curriculum level. This work, done at the same school, should include the organization of special educational measures for these students, through the Plan of Care for Diversity (“Plan de Attention a la Divers dad”), included in the Educational Project of the Centre. Finally it should be specified the educational proposal for each student through the Individual Curricular Adaptations. Apart from the educational response from the center, Madrid county (“Comunidad de Madrid” ) offers to these high ability students the possibility of joining an Educational Enrichment Programme after the school schedule with the collaboration and coordination of the Educational centres and families. Therefore, the curricular approach that the Spanish Educational system carries out to serve these high ability students allows us to offer an appropriate answer to these students’ needs and characteristics.Downloads
