Abstract

Violence against women in Spain continues despite the implementation of a Comprehensive Law and all the advertising campaigns launched by public and private bodies. After these years of sad experience, which has the same or even higher rates of aggressiveness at the international level, it was necessary to carry out a study, an in-depth analysis of the role that the media have when it comes to reporting on this terrible social scourge that claims so many lives. The media and information professionals cannot shirk their responsibility to contribute to the eradication of this social scourge. The results obtained in the survey of 975 journalists from all over Spain demonstrate the firm will of the majority to improve their work day by day to avoid those errors that could contribute to justifying violent attitudes against women.
