Transnational electoral political participation
Abstract
We understand electoral participation as the action that allows the citizens of a country to take part in the decision-making of democratic states. Baubock (2007) sees the right to vote exercised from abroad as more than a test of meaning. It is also a test of the legitimacy of transnational citizenship. In this article, we present a theoretical reflection on electoral political participation from a transnational perspective, since, within conventional participation, suffrage is the most important thing. In this case, we focus on the political participation of immigrants linked to their country of origin. From a critical perspective we analyse the main research related to its study.
