Abstract

This article adresses important demographical changes due to the ageing process and recent EU labour market changes.The elderly face a paradoxical situation. The employment guidelines’ demands are not in line with the firms’ practices. Older workers have to face a changing social norm of work compared to the past. In this framework there is a further consolidation of the trend to be excluded and to be pushed towards a labour market caracterised by increasing precariousness at the end of their professional career and the blurring of the boundaries between work, unemployment and vulnerability.
