Abstract

This work analyzes the minimum income benefits schemes in Spain both with the programs in other countries of the European Union. These programs are, within the social expenses, the more directly oriented to fight against poverty and social exclusion, assuring a level of income sufficient to satisfy the basic necessities. The complex organization of the welfare benefits in Spain recommends the detailed study of the spanish regions and its territorial differences as a previous step to evaluate the efficiency of the system in the reduction of the poverty and the inequality.
