Abstract
Tourism, a key economic driver in Spain, has a direct impact on employment. This paper analyzes the legal and labor reality of travel agencies, addressing hiring and employment conditions as well as interpretative conflicts that have arisen, including those stemming from the implementation of furlough schemes (ERTES) during the pandemic. In this context, the RED Mechanism for employment flexibility and stabilization was activated for the first time, with a positive outcome according to available data, despite the lack of a formal institutional evaluation.
