Qualities or qualifications? The teaching of domestic work and care in the support material for the training of private home staff. Argentina, 2014
Abstract
In this article we will analyze the "Support material for the training of personal of private homes", published for the first time in 2010 and republished in 2014, in accordance with Law 26844, enacted in 2013. The material for the training journey constitutes the main written support for the trainings to the sector certified by competent authority, and the only one issued by an official body. Its publication takes place in a broader context of policies of expansion and recognition of labor rights to domestic service. However, we will observe in this discursive corpus a series of gender and class biases that limit the possibilities of hierarchy proposed by the aforementioned material and the policies with which it dialogues, and mark a line of continuity with traditions rooted in that segment of the labor market.
