El poblado prehistórico de La Loma del Lomo (Cogolludo, Guadalajara). La organización del hábitat The prehistoric settlement of La Loma del Lomo (Cogolludo, Guadalajara). The arrangement of the habitat
Abstract
The archaeological excavations performed in the Loma del Lomo (Cogolludo), a hillock located in the North of the province of Guadalajara, have made evident that the human occupation of the site lasted more than one millenium, but along two different cultural periods, namely the Eneolithic and the Bronze Age. This evidence was confirmed through some rediocarbon datations obtained from samples of bone and charcoal found in the pits -the sole structural remnants from the ancient habitat- now scattered through the settlement and filled with domestic refuse, ceramic sherds, flint implements, animal bones and, in some cases, human burials, plus some scarce metallurgical remains. These datations make sure that the site was occupied from middle third to well into the second half of the second millenium B.C. This paper is about to determine the pits, ceramics and other remnants that pertain to ach of the two ultural and chronological stages, and also the mode of arranging the various sectors of the habitat.Downloads
