Abstract

1968 Italian mobilizations were long-lasting, and influenced newly and deeply on behaviours, mentalities, cultures and ways of life. At the same time, state bodies’ violent reaction made evident the limits of a political system whose inability to integrate external stimuli turned out to be a constant feature in republican history. According to this perspective, the present article intends to analyse the reasons, origins, consequences and developments of the Italian “anomaly”, developing political and cultural questions opened by the protests and going over some of its most significant aspects.
