Abstract

During the first three years of the Second World War, american motion picture industry interests in Spain were openly under attack by the Spanish Regime. The American Embassy, initially aloof to take part, was getting involved into the matter and finally requested the intervention of the Department of State. But nothing changed until the United States entered the War. From that very moment, the raise of a system to finance the American Mission through the import of Motion Pictures and the possibilities to pressure Spanish Government through the supply of raw film turned the motion picture trade unexpectedly relevant in the American intervention in Spain during the War.
