Political culture: objects and commemorations to create motherhood feelings during the arrival of Liberalism in Portugal (1820-1836)
Abstract
This article focuses on rescuing the actions that could generate ties between the representatives of power and their citizens during the arrival of constitutional liberalism in Portugal. It seeks to find the means of socializing the idea of power and concretely approaching feelings to political culture in the issues that could communicate emotions for power through objects, sculptures or monarchical commemorations. It addresses unpublished primary sources of Alentejo region, such as the Municipal Major of Évora documents. The period analyzed is from 1820 to 1836, when the beginning of constitutional liberalism began with kings João VI, Pedro IV and Maria II.
