Japanese rationalization of the occupation of Korea and its reception through the accounts of Spanish travelers
Abstract
The following paper analyzes the Spanish perception of the Japanese occupation of Korea collected in documental sources. Firstly, it realizes a study of the main arguments used by the Japanese propaganda to rationalize their colonizing project and then it puts them into relation with the political and cultural information about Korea contained in the travelogues or reports of the Spaniards who visited Korea during this period.
