The Commemorations of the V Centenary and its international value for Spain in 1992
Abstract
This paper tackles the international value for Spain of the Commemorations of the V Centenary of the Discovery of America, which were celebrated in 1992. The ephemeris - which is 25 years old - acted as a revitalizing element of the establishment of the Ibero-American Community of Nations, the Universal Exposition of Seville, the creation of the Cervantes Institute and a considerable rise of the international development cooperation, among others. In addition, it made up an important date for the Spanish public diplomacy along with the rest of the events of 1992. Through the study of primary sources, it is intended to rebuild this process, which has been very little studied yet, and which goes further than a mere commemoration.Downloads
