Abstract

In the first years of the 21st century informal groups linked to the new trend of insurrectionary anarchism, promoted at the end of the last century by activists such as the Italians Alfredo Maria Bonanno and Costantino Cavalleri, have committed some mainly non-lethal terrorist attacks in various countries including Italy, Greece and Spain. They explicitly evoked their terrorist forebears of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This essay offers a comparative analysis of both terrorist campaigns and concludes that it is very improbable that the most recent one could become a threat similar to the previous. Mateo Morral is not coming back.
