Abstract

In the political culture of the USSR, the state manipulation of certain characters and historical events was very important. The myths created in the Muslim periphery of the Soviet empire were generated on behalf of the center, of the Moscow Government. Like forms of oath, gave legitimacy to the designs of the past and present made by the Soviet elite, they were images for the people, not images of the people.
