Abstract

Telephus, King of Mysia, son of Heracles and Auge, is a half-Greek, half Asian hero. His myth was recounted in Greek literature from the time of its epic poetry, particularly his battle against the Greek ar my on the Teuthranian plain, in which he was severely wounded in the knee by Achilles. In the tragedies, especially in Euripides, he is depicted as a hero, while in the comedies his search for a cure among an assembly of Achaeans in the guise of a beg gar is much parodied. This paper aims to deal with this myth in literature and art.
