Gonçalo Sampaio y la taxonomía botánica. Conflictos e innovación
Abstract
In this paper are presented and discussed the main proposals of Gonçalo Sampaio (1865-1937) concerning botanical taxonomy, focusing on the rules of botanical nomenclature, the study of the classical Portuguese floras of Brotero, Link and Hoffmansegg, and the study of the Portuguese vascular flora. It was concluded that Sampaio proposals concerning the rules of nomenclature were originals and creative and that his analysis of the classical floras was fundamental for their revalorization and promotion. His study of the Portuguese flora has contributed, exceptionally, to a modern knowledge of the flora of his country, although perhaps it has not received the attention that deserves.Downloads
