Abstract
The object of this paper is to offer a general view on the historic proceedings of the medical use of mud therapy. Clays and mud have been used since very ancient times for multiple uses, provoking the evocation of many kinds of symbolic, onyric and/or literary interpretations. In 1949 it reaches it’s maximum expression as a crenotherapy techniques coinciding with the International Conference in Dax where a consensus is reached by the I.S.M.H. on the definition and classification of peloids. In Spain, due to the ignorance and lack of knowledge of the Doctors of the Baths on the subject, even though there were some initiatives, only four spas finally developed the technique and only well into the XX centuryDownloads
