Images and geographical imaginations of the world in Argentinean geography at school
Abstract
Geography is a visual discourse that has the singularity of being a school subject. As a consequence it is engaged in the constitution of a common culture. In order to discuss the relationship among visual culture, geography and geographical imaginations we have chosen geography taught at school in Argentina. Drawing from a qualitative approach, we analyze how images have made up geography in different historical moments. Furthermore, we explore the visual discourses of the world constructed by teenagers. Finally, we consider how geography is currently taking part in the constitution of geographical imaginations.Downloads
