Abstract
In this paper we study some abandoned silver mines located in Horcajuelo de la Sierra, in the province of Madrid. An important bibliographic research has been done, as well as various field trips. The aim was to interpret and date the mining heritage. On the other hand many minerals have been collected and analysed u the School of Mines in order to determinate which are the main silver ores. As a result of this research the historical elements are catalogued and valuated. Different silver minerals can still be studied. The silver mines of Horcajuelo de la Sierra are a valuable geological and historical heritage that need to be preserved.Downloads
