The agricultural landscapes of the Canary Islands: analysis methodology and classification proposal
Abstract
In this article we propose a new classification of Canarian agrarian landscapes, based on our new theoretical and methodological contributions, as well as on field work and general advances in research on the subject. This more detailed classification of the agricultural landscapes of the Canary Islands is proposed together with the need for a detailed study of them, due to the contribution it can make to reduce the high dependence on foreign food of the Archipelago and contribute to the sustainability of its natural resources. Along with the above, in the study of the high patrimonial load of these agrarian landscapes and the need for their protection and conservation, Geography can play a leading role.
