Abstract

Oca is the most representative example of Galician “pazos” and a clear exponent of the perfect combination that is produced in these between architecture and nature and which rests upon an intricate use of stone materials, outdoor nature and water resources. In this paper, it is our aim to focus on the construction of this pazo and its garden-orchard by surveying the corresponding planimetry as developed by the pazo’s successive owners. In this respect, we will undertake a detailed analysis of the existing 22 maps possessed by the family and preserved in the Archive of the Fundación Casa Ducal de Medinaceli, some of which are accomplished artistic works.
