A Brief History of Black and Brown People in the British Literary Sector
Abstract
The UK is often seen as one of the most advanced countries in Europe in terms of equality, diversity and inclusion. Yet, in the literary field, many challenges still remain to ensure that black and brown British authors have a place in the publishing world. This article will trace some of the developments in UK publishing over the last thirty years and look at how independent organisations can lead the way in transforming the sector for all.
