El tacto del texto: la escritura como experiencia sensorial en The Pillow Book de Peter Greenaway
Abstract
The sensible, tactile, aspect of the text is underlined using a visual metaphor in Peter Greenaway's film. Loosely based in Sei Shonagon's collection of brief narratives and series, the film is structured around an image-metaphor, constantly repeated. Oriental calligraphy produced on human skin rather than paper. Thus, the body becomes a book and the book a body. The plastic value of text is stressed by using images related to baroque aesthetics, using oriental traditions and avoiding cinema as illustrated text.Downloads
