Abstract

The general oblivion of Eugenio Muñoz Díaz -known as Eugenio Noel- is one of the more unfortunate injustices of the Spanish Literature. In spite of his exceptional cultural level and his exquisite use of language (always peppered with an acid and intelligent sense of humor, rich references about the classic tradition and a grace so sharpened that, for many critical, grazes the “esperpento”), he is unjustly remembered just becouse his antibullfighting ideology. Puente de Vallecas invites us to a walk across Madrid –after 98´s war–. Taste, sense of smell and tact acquire a remarkable protagonism in this flavorful tale, full of humanity and loaded of humor, that appears like a kaleidoscope of the spanish capital.
