Literary study and insertion in 86* RL of the Coplas de Jorge Manrique / que cosa es amor (ID 0276)*
Abstract
Jorge Manrique has two poems in the Cancionero de Llavia: Obra de don jorge manrique por la muerte de su padre; and Otra obra de don Jorge Manrique dando definición de amor que cosa es. In both, a rhetoric is put into practice, that of Death and that of Love, resorting to all types of arguments and all registers of sensitivity; but is evident that his fate was uneven. The printed form is considered an essential pillar in the first printed versions of the Coplas about Death and in their dissemination, the same does not happen with the second poem. The literary and aesthetic resources on Love, with their corresponding topoi, were an inexhaustive source of moralizing nuances, with which an indoctrination was attempted with thematic-formal developments influenced by rhetoric. The analysis of this tradition in the Coplas, the resources used, its integration and role in the interdiscursive organization of the Cancionero, and its final contribution, constitutes the objective of our study.
