La traslación del muy excelente Doctor Catón by Martín García: critical edition and ecdotic study
Abstract
This article presents a critical edition of La traslación del muy excelente Doctor Catón, by Martín García Puyazuelo. It is a poetic gloss of the Disticha Catonis that the author wrote in 1467, although it was printed years later, around 1490 (90*DC), most probably in the Zaragozan workshop of the Hurus. The lack of attention paid to this work, as evidenced by the only two previous editions that exist, has motivated this new proposed edition, which includes, for the first time, a critical apparatus, both of the Latin and Spanish texts. It also analyzes those unique readings of the incunabula that are of greater interest or complexity and that ultimately differ from the lessons proposed in the previous editions.
