The representation of War in "Capital de la gloria" (2003), by Juan Eduardo Zúñiga
Abstract
Juan Eduardo Zúñiga is a singular case among the writers of the Spanish Civil War. He suffered the war in his youth, but it was not until 1980 that he published his first volume of short stories about that war: Largo noviembre de Madrid. His second book, Capital de la Gloria, appeared in 2003. This essay attempts to examine the representation of war in this latter work and the unifying features of a text that, far from being grounded in any sort of autobiographical form, are rooted in a memory that chooses fiction as a form of expression. Key words: Spanish Literature; 20th-21st Centuries; Spanish Civil War; Memory; Juan Eduardo ZúñigaDownloads
