Galatea and Other Myths. Naked in the Paris of Modernity
Abstract
Never before a subject –as exhaustively treated in art as the feminine nude– was as frequent as in the 19th century despite of its direct confrontation with most common cultural values. Several antique myths were used as methods to justify the nude in the very centre of the art production of the era.
