Czech and Slovak Intellectual Diaspora in the 70’s and 80’s of the 20th Century and its Reflection in Literature: The Case of Libuše Moníková
Abstract
The paper is an approach to the problem of Czech and Slovak literary exile in the 70’s and 80’s of the 20th Century. After an historical introduction, which explains its specificity in comparison with earlier waves of exile, the study focuses on works of the German speaking Czech writer Libuše Moníková. The problem of the change of language of the author, as well as the lack of identification of her exiled characters with both native and host countries are analyzed from the point of view of the concept of “extraterritorial” literature (G. Steiner).Downloads
