Abstract

The article proposes a reflection on a Galician-Portuguese cantiga by Johan Soarez Coelho and the poetic cycle to which it gave birth, in the years 1241-1243, reconsidering one of the most credited critical positions and proposing an etymological-semantic path of the keyword around which the rhetoric of the text articulates, the Galician-Portuguese word ama, ‘nurse’.
