Poverty and Social Exclusion as a Culture of Waste: Structural, Social, and Personal Dimensions

Keywords: poverty, social exclusion, waste culture

Abstract

The oppressive and exploitative practices of capitalism exclude and discard millions of people. These structural aspects shape a shared imaginary: the way society judges individuals in exclusion, their behaviors, and values have deepened the society's aporophobic gaze, leading the expelled individuals themselves to internalize stigmatizing discourses. This triple dimension (structural, social, and personal) characterizes social exclusion as a culture of waste.
