La promoción de la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres en la política española de cooperación para el desarrollo. Algunas reflexiones conceptuales

Abstract

The goal of the following pages is to shed some light on a few basic concepts about gender equality in the Spanish Development Co-operation’s instruments and policy, both of them lacking a throughough approach of this concept and its pre-eminence in the development field. The article considers that such a goal must embed the whole Spanish foreign aid as part of the international compromises it holds to. Therefore, it shall focus the attention on examining the obligations assumed by our country, stressing on the basic concepts that shall rule all actions to promote gender equality while trying to specify the afore mentioned deficiencies. We understand that this a fundamental analysis, not only for the sake of a real promotion of gender equality in Spanish Development Co-operation but also, and as a result of this, to ensure a higher efficiency of such cooperation.
