Abstract

The latter half of 2015 sees the end of Mr. Rajoy’s term in government and the approval of a new post-2015 Development Agenda. This is an obligation that successive governments in Spain must fulfill over the next fifteen years. However, as it currently stands, the Spanish international development cooperation policy lacks the institutional capacity and the necessary human and material resources to meet this challenge. This article shall describe some of the obstacles that Spain will encounter if it truly attempts to address and respond to the universal and sustainable development outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda.
