The meaning of critical development theory: between ideas and beliefs
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyse the meaning of critical development theory. In order to do so, I establish an analytical distinction between two levels of development thinking: ideas and beliefs. My argument is that critical interpretations of development arise from the questioning of the latter, and they can choose to deconstruct or reconstruct the main ideas that structure the concept of development.
