Transnational practices and migrant associationism: the Colombian case in the Community of Madrid
Abstract
This article analyzes the transnational practices carried out by Colombian migrant associations established in the Community of Madrid. Studies on migrant associations show the difficulties that these organizations have in carrying out this type of actions and, especially, in accessing funding through co-development projects. Given this reality, it can be seen how associations combine this type of institutional practices with others of an informal or spontaneous nature, self-managed by the organizations themselves. The logic behind both types of actions is the same: obtaining resources to expand the scope of the organizations and ensure their continuity over time.
